SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) Certificate is an encrypted text block that uniquely specifies who you are, and especially the domain name (and subdomain or wildcard) that you want to use for the certificate. You need to use specific software to generate a CSR, and you will need to copy and paste the resulting block into the web form to activate your request.
Generating a CSR (SHA-2)
Answer the questions and send the public.csr file to your domain provider.
openssl req -nodes -newkey rsa:2048 -sha256 -keyout private.key -out public.csr
